What Kea saves: cell values, formulas, and rows, columns and sheets you add, remove, rename or reorder.
What Kea keeps but cannot change: cell formatting, conditional formatting, validation rules, filters, charts, pivot tables and macros. They are carried over from the file you opened, byte for byte, so nothing is lost, but the formatting controls are switched off rather than pretend to save.
Other formats: .csv and .tsv files are saved back as themselves, values only. Templates (.xltx) and .xls, .ods and .numbers files are opened and saved as a new .xlsx file, and the original is left alone.
